Don’t be put off by the military-sounding designation! Mk 262 MOD 1-C is still 5.56x45 ammunition like a regular AR-15 is designed to fire. It’s just insanely accurate!

Black Hills originally developed this ammunition for use in the U.S. Navy’s Mark 12 Mod 0/1 Special Purpose Rifle. The South Dakotan manufacturer selected Sierra’s 77 grain open tip match for this precision cartridge, as the bullet’s super concentric jacket, even weight distribution, narrow tip and boat tail all give it superior ballistic efficiency. Black Hills doesn’t ship this ammo out unless it has proven capable of grouping within 2” at 300 yards.

This round’s heavyweight 77 grain bullet has the heft it needs to retain a lot of its velocity hundreds of yards out, as well as brush aside wind deflection. It will still feed from a standard AR-15 magazine, but it will only deliver optimal accuracy from a 1:8 or 1:7 twist barrel.

The U.S. Department of Defense reports that this round’s bullet is capable of incapacitating a target at an astounding 2297 yards. You may not wish to use a non-expanding bullet for home defense, but the Mk 262 MOD1-C isn’t called a “precision military round” simply because it’s accurate.

This isn’t military surplus. It was manufactured specifically for the civilian market, yet it still has all the hallmarks of precision military ammo with its high quality brass cases, non-corrosive Boxer primers, and clean-burning propellant which is insensitive to temperature fluctuations.

These 460 cartridges come sealed in a mil-spec ammo can. Take comfort that its snug gasket will repel the infiltration of moisture indefinitely, and its rugged steel construction will keep your match rounds unharmed by dents and dings.
